How to Close Your Account

If you would like to close your current or savings account, you can do so in any of the following ways. Please note that we can only transfer current accounts funds to an account in your name, and savings account funds to your nominated account.

1. Digital Banking

If you are registered for Digital Banking, you can close an account with a balance below £20,000 by sending a secure message. Follow these steps:

1. Log onto the Digital Banking app or Desktop Portal.
2. From the main menu, choose ‘Secure messages’.
3. Select ‘Add’.
4. Choose ‘Services’.
5. Select ‘Closure of account’.

For notice accounts, you can submit a notice of closure through Digital Banking, but you must still serve the notice period, and there is no limit on the amount.

2. Telephone Banking

If you are registered for Telephone Banking, you can close your account by calling us. Please note that you can only close an account with a balance up to £10,000 via Telephone Banking. You will need to be verified through our IVR system.

To transfer any outstanding balance below £10,000 from a Current Account, provide:
