Assia Ahmed, Direct Sales Specialist

I joined as a part time Contact Centre Agent, then as a Customer Service and Sales Advisor, supporting relationship management and networking with customers. I then took an opportunity to move to the Direct Sales team full time, which is where I work now as a Direct Sales specialist.

In my current role I am essentially the first point of contact for customers and live and work by the idea ‘you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression’. I consider it a serious responsibility to portray our Bank and our values positively. I pride myself on building rapport and trust with customers and providing exceptional customer service, and key to that is listening closely to their requirements. 

One of the things I love about my role is the variety; no two days are the same. On any given day you could find me providing guidance throughout the sales process; opening an account; processing a customer retention; helping online customers to open an account; or supporting teams across the Bank – or something else entirely.

But it’s not just this variety that has kept me at Al Rayan Bank. In fact, there are many reasons. I am very proud to work for a shariah compliant, ethical bank. I believe in the mission and values that we hold, and that we have never compromised on. And like so many people who work here, I am passionate about the work we do.

I believe that the commitment, loyalty and persistence of the people who work here is the key to our success. We all want to see the Bank do really well and be part of making it happen; I believe that’s the reason that we have so many long-standing employees. One of the things that has remained constant over my years here has been the friendliness of the people and their passion to make the Bank succeed. 

There has been changes, and I don’t mean just our name. Our culture has evolved, our workforce has become more diverse and we have become more focused.  We now enjoy improved communication channels, which has bought more transparency. We continue to evolve and I can see the Bank going from strength to strength. We have achieved so much in so little time– and I’m looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that the future brings!
