Al Rayan Bank, the UK’s largest Islamic Bank*, has announced that it will be hosting a series of support days in its branches throughout Ramadan, with its official Zakat Education Partner, The National Zakat Foundation (NZF).
NZF is a nationwide charity providing Muslim communities with support and guidance around Zakat; the Islamic pillar meaning growth, blessings, purification and development that requires Muslims to pay 2.5% of their earnings annually to a worthy cause, such as the poor or those in debt.
From the start of Ramadan, representatives from the Foundation will be on hand in Al Rayan Bank’s London, Birmingham, Leicester and Manchester branches on, offering walk-in sessions with customers to help them calculate, pay and distribute Zakat.

- Birmingham: Fridays, 25 May, 1 June, 8 June, 15 June

Commenting on the partnership, Saquib Ismail, Al Rayan Bank Head of Branches and Retail Deposits said, “For many Muslims, banking in a non-Muslim country can have its challenges. Understanding how to pay the right amount of Zakat is one of these, so we are pleased to be able to offer the tailored and expert services of the National Zakat Foundation over the next month to help educate customers across the country.”
Iqbal Nasim, CEO of NZF added, “As the Zakat partner of Al Rayan Bank, we are excited to offer both customers and the general public access to our Zakat specialists. Customers will be able to simply pop into their local Al Rayan Bank branch and have a free Zakat consultation, whether it be related to business, pensions, shares or just their personal Zakat.”
