Ramadan Mubarak

Ramadan Mubarak from Dr Samir Alamad, Head of Sharia Compliance & Product Development

Assalamu Alaikum and Ramadan Mubarak

We are welcoming the blessed month of Ramadan again. As a holy month, consisting of fasting, prayer, Zakah (Alms) and good deeds, Ramadan is a gift from Allah; Through our worship, abstinence and actions we are able to feed the mind and soul, strengthen our faith and earn immense rewards. It is also a time when both families and communities re-connect and unite.

Consequently, this is a busy time for Al Rayan Bank which celebrates its 15 year anniversary this year. It was in 2004 when Al Rayan Bank opened its first branch in London, with a handful of customers and just nine employees. Today, we have more than 85,000 customers, a workforce of nearly 340 and 15 branches and offices throughout the UK.

As a result of our pioneering work, and the support of our customers, Al Rayan Bank is considered a beacon of the British Islamic finance industry. Since its inception, we have been serving the Muslim community in the UK and overseas, enabling individuals and businesses to conduct their finances in a Sharia compliant way.

After all, financial matters are an essential part of our lives. The way in which we conduct them should complement our spiritual efforts. Our finances should allow us to connect with our good deeds and help us to achieve purity. This is particularly the case during the holy month of Ramadan, when we are more conscious of how we practice our faith and adhere to our beliefs.

As the UK’s oldest Islamic bank, Al Rayan Bank has been committed to this since our very first day. It’s why we call it ‘Banking you can believe in’.

While we are proud of what we have achieved, we also owe immense gratitude to you, our customers. Your commitment and support have played a central role in our successes over the last 15 years, and we look forward to continuing to serve you.

It is said that Ramadan is a month in which prayers are accepted. So we pray that Allah keeps us in the best of health and faith during the holy month, letting us grow closer to Him as we seek His forgiveness, mercy and blessings. May He accept our efforts to please Him during this blessed month. Ameen

Finally, I, and all of us at Al Rayan Bank, would like to wish you all a happy and fulfilling Ramadan.
